Laverne Denmark passed away on Nov.16, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Henry B. Coleman and Bertie Mae Selph Coleman in Ft. Lauderdale FL., on June 28, 1946. Laverne moved to Jacksonville in 1961 and was a proud graduate of the Paxon High School class of 1964. She was married to the love of her life, Bob, for 46 wonderful years. Laverne retired after 25 years with Smurfit-Stone. The lifelong friendships and enjoyment she developed from her passion for dance never were far from her thoughts. But maybe most of all the love of family, being a loving Nanny and travelling with her husband Bob, always brought a warm smile to her face and heart. She is survived by her husband Bob, Daughter Kara (Fred) Wenk; granddaughter Makenna Wenk; sister Cecile (Jay) Wyrick and brothers James (Carolyn) Coleman; Jerrell (Kathy) Coleman; Gene (Ouida) Coleman and Hollis (Toni) Coleman. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL 32205. A public visitation will be held, Wed. Nov.20, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8081 Lenox Ave Jax. Fl. 32221, at 10:30 AM with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Pastor Ray Mayfield officiating.
