Lawrence S. Harkenreader

A beloved husband, father and friend, Larry was born in Carbondale, PA on September 5, 1936.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Leona Harkenreader and is survived by his four children: Candy Ganyo, Melanie Delaney (Patrick), Scott Harkenreader (Brenda) and Sean Harkenreader. There are nine grandchildren and

five great grandchildren.

Larry retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 yrs of service and 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. He relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1970. He then retired from IFF after 26 yrs.

He will be fondly remembered as being big hearted and easy going, always smiling and always had a joke to tell. He was an avid fisherman, and car enthusiast and proud to be a part of the US Navy and his years of service. Larry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family extends sincere thanks to 21st Oncology Center and Baptist Medical Center for their outstanding care.

A Christian service celebrating his life will be at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church at 10am Thursday followed by burial at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens on St. Johns Bluff Rd.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at Hardage Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society for Lymphoma/Leukemia research.
