Leon E. Baggs

Leon Elwood Baggs, age 79, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Leon was born December 17, 1943 in Cameron, Oklahoma to Riley and Beulah Baggs. He served in the United States Navy (E-3), and retired as an Engineer from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Station #18, after 27 years. Leon was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family.

Leon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maisie L. Baggs; sons David Baggs (Amy) of Jacksonville, FL., Terry Davis (Karen) of Orange Park, FL., and Ricky Davis (Grace) of Cosby, TN; daughters Sue Holdampf (Leo), Sandra Robinson, Patsy Jullian (Andy), Melissa Harnage, all of Macclenny, FL., Donna Franklin (Ralph) and Joanie August (David), both of Jacksonville, FL.; 24 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; and one brother Roy Baggs (Martha) of Oklahoma.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Beulah Baggs of Oklahoma; one brother, Jackie Ray Baggs of Oklahoma; one daughter, Linda Diane Rivera; one grandson, Leo J. Holdampf, III of Jacksonville, FL.; one granddaughter, Aline C. Roberts of Clay County, FL.; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Hall of Macclenny, FL.

A receiving family and friends for Leon will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Following the receiving family and friends will be a memorial service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Tommy Anderson will serve as officiant of services.
