Loretta M. Phillips, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 18, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, William F. Phillips. Loretta retired from Anchor Hocking Glass. She devoted her time to raising three children, cooking, gardening and quilting. Loretta was a loving person who always enjoyed being around people and especially delighted in time spent with children. She was happiest when surrounded by her family or sitting in her garden, which was lovingly tended by her son, David. Loretta is survived by sisters Ruby (Ben Duncan) and Doris (Charles Nettlehurst) of Jacksonville; her brother, Ray McCollum of Orlando; children Susan Lehr and David (Cynthia Spires) of Jacksonville, and Debra Dougherty of Kenai, Alaska; grandchildren Michelle, Rachael, Sean and Kyle; and six great-grandchildren. Loretta was a long-time member of Murray Hill Baptist Church.
Loretta moved from her home of 45 years to relocate to Taylor Manor in 2012. She greatly enjoyed cards and visits from her family and friends from church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Taylor Manor who provided compassionate and loving care during her residence there, and Northeast Florida Community Hospice for their help during Loretta’s final journey to be with our Lord. The family also wants to thank Dr. Richard Glock for the long-term, loving care provided Loretta and the family for over 30 years.
