

Lucy Pope Drinkwater went home to be with her Lord, Saturday January 22, 2011. She was born on January 17, 1924 in Washington GA, one of five children born to Dixie and Terry Bailey; she is preceded in death by her siblings; J.T. Bailey, Junie Salter, Glennie Boggs and Kathleen Bailey.
Lucy married Don Drinkwater, and together, they raised three sons. She was a secretary at Cedar Hills Elementary School until retiring in 1984. There, she met many of her lifelong and dearest friends. Lucy was an active member of St. Johns Park Baptist Church, where she was the past president of the WMU. She loved to walk and spend time with her children and grandchildren. We will miss her wit, humor and common sense advice. Lucy leaves behind her husband, Don Drinkwater, sons; Lee Drinkwater (Ann), Michael Drinkwater (Freda) and Terry Drinkwater (Loraine); grandchildren, Brian Drinkwater (Loretta), Jason Drinkwater (Andrea), Michael Drinkwater, Christina Drinkwater, Travis Drinkwater, Tracie Drinkwater Beatty (Bryan); 4 great-grandchildren; nephews, Kenneth Jackson (Linda) and Ben Salter; nieces Linda Bailey, Juanita Green (Lonnie), and Janice Watkins. Also, special caregiver and friend Lucy Estremera. There will be a visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at St. Johns Park Baptist Church, 4300 St. Johns Avenue, with Reverend Bill Turner officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd.
