November 16, 1932 – August 28, 2025
Macie Marglin Jackson, 92, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2025. Born November 16, 1932, in Branford, Florida, Macie spent most of her life in Jacksonville, where she built a legacy of love, faith, and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Captain Joseph Wilson and Maud Ruth Wilson; five brothers and five sisters; infant grandchildren Timothy, Ashley, and Christy; great-grandson Jason Jr.; son-in-law Buddy; and grandson-in-law Bobby.
Macie is survived by her devoted husband, John Grieder, and her sister, Carolyn Mathis. She leaves behind her beloved children Coleta (John) Martin, Joey (Lisa) Byrd, Timothy (Angela) Byrd and stepdaughter Mary Kenner; her cherished grandchildren Rhonda (Glen) Barnes, Jason Byrd, Amanda (Kenneth) Downs, Jessica (James) Mathis, Justin (Melissa) Byrd, and Tiffany (Jeremy) Papelbon; great-grandchildren Robbie (Tori) Collins, Shelby, Madyson, and Kayson Downs, Grace and James Mathis, Blair and Blake Byrd, and Emma and Ava Papelbon. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Macie grew up on a farm, where she learned the value of hard work and developed skills she carried throughout her life. She loved sewing, canning, cooking, and baking—gifts she often shared with family and friends. She had a passion for travel, delighting in seeing God’s creations around the world, and she found joy in square and round dancing, which is how she met the love of her life, John.
Macie was known for her sassy personality, her quick wit, and her love for jewelry and all things flossy. She enjoyed adding a little sparkle wherever she went and carried herself with style and confidence.
Most of all, Macie’s greatest joy was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren—her “babies,” as she lovingly called them—were her pride and joy. She lived each day with a deep love for her Lord and an even deeper love for her family, always showing how proud she was of them and how much she cherished them.
A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.
Macie’s love, laughter, sparkle, and unwavering faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
