Maida Sy

Mai-Mai was born on Aug. 1, 1991, in Dagupan City, Philippines, and moved to Jacksonville with her family at age 11. She graduated from Sandalwood High School in 2010 and was excited to start college in the spring. Mai-Mai was a beautiful and loving young woman with natural artistic ability. Whether Mai-Mai was painting murals for friends, sketching portraits or simply deciding which haircut to get, her life was her canvas, and she was intent on painting it beautifully. Through her friendship, smiles, laughter and loyalty, she has touched the lives of everyone around her. She is survived by her mother and father: Nida and Manuel Sy; her cherished boyfriend of three years, Bobby Adelman; and her aunts, uncles and cousins. She will forever be remembered and loved by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225, on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 18 and 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov 20.
