Margaret May Terrey

She was born in Reading, PA on June 17, 1922, to William & Louisa Moyer, and grew up there with her beloved sister Dotty. She graduated from Reading High School in 1939 and trained to become a licensed cosmetologist, making just 25 cents a day.

She married the love of her life Robert Terrey in 1942, and following his service in World War II, they settled down to start a family, eventually welcoming five children over the course of the next decade. She made her husband, family, and church her life as they decided to pursue full time ministry, becoming a beloved pastor’s wife who poured her love and support into countless young women and men. Many still count her as one of the greatest influences of their lives. The two served together until Robert’s death in November 2002. She lived with and was cared for by two of her daughters for the past twenty years until her passing. Words cannot express how much of a blessing she was to everyone who knew her. Her sense of humor was unsurpassed and will be missed most of all.

She is survived by her children William Terrey (Bonnie), Peggy Theobald (Steve), John Mark Terrey (Elaine), Patricia Lowdermilk (Eric), and Pamela Custer (Joey), as well as 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one niece, Carol Bryan (Skip). She is predeceased by her husband, parents, sister, and one grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, November 9th from 1:00-3:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Jacksonville FL. A graveside service will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens on the grounds of Trinity Baptist Church, with Eric Lowdermilk officiating.
