Marilyn Ann (Dickey) Smith was born January 23rd, 1939, to Norman and Katie Dickey in Alton, Missouri, but grew up in Springfield, Ohio where her parents re-located after World War II. She attended Ohio State University where she met and married Roger Jameson Smith (who proceeded her in death in 2021).
They began their newlywed life in 1959, with Roger joining the Air Force and becoming a test pilot. Together they traveled and explored the world, raising three children while stationed throughout the US and Europe.
Retiring in Florida in the late 80’s, they split their time between two homes in Florida and Colorado, enjoying the best seasons in each state, while visiting and spoiling their six Grandchildren.
Throughout her days, Marilyn was a positive, grateful, and spiritual individual. As a member of Pi Phi Sorority, and Eastern Star, she was always a gracious and hospitable force in the lives of others. Her love of books, nature, and world events made her an interesting and engaging conversationalist who was always sought out by others. Her remaining friends and family will greatly miss her charming smile, quick wit, and hearty laugh.
She is survived by her brother James (Michelle) Dickey; her three children: J. Eric (Carol) Smith, Lisa (Mike) Smith-Losee, Mark (Nora) Smith; her three nephews and a niece: Brett Dickey, Todd Dickey, Aaron Smith, Amy Smith-Gonzales; her six grandchildren: Matt (Maggie) Losee, Harris (Savannah) Smith, Nick (Stef) Losee, Holden (Ariel) Smith, Avery Smith, and Sammie (Ben) Losee-Parlier; and her five great granddaughters: Carmen, Candice, Macy, Melody Losee and Eve Parlier. Marilyn went to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of September 1, 2023, in Jacksonville Florida.
In Lieu of flowers and in her honor, consider donating to Community Hospice of NE FL.
