Mary Anna Matthews passed away October 5, 2010. She was born May 31, 1915 on the Westside of Jacksonville. Mary graduated from Lee High School in 1933. Mrs. Matthews owned and operated the Normandy Motel and the Cecil Motel on Normandy Blvd. for 30 years before retiring. She moved to Interlachen in 2005 after being injured in a fall and enjoyed her retirement relaxing on the lake. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by: sons Donald W. Matthews and Kenneth D. Matthews; daughter Joyce A. Matthews; (12) grandchildren; and (16) great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles H. “Charlie” Matthews and son Thomas R. Matthews.
The family will receive friends Saturday October 9, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
