peacefully on 23 April, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mary was born on 11 July 1948 in Latrobe PA, she was the daughter of Reverend William Foster McClain and Frances (Fulmer) McClain.
After Mary graduated from State College Area High School in 1966, she attended Maryville College in Tennessee before marrying Ensign James (Jim) Richard O’Hora on 10 Jan, 1970.
It is hard to sum up a persons whole life in a few words, but the word I would use for Mary is Love. Mary was one of the most loving people I have known. She loved her family, she loved her friends, and spent her life trying her best to take care of everyone around her. As a Navy wife she held down the home front while Jim was deployed serving with the U.S. Navy. She was always active in helping the other wives and families during long deployments and made sure everyone was looked after. She was always there for people in times of happiness and crisis. She was a Navy mom, supporting her oldest son Davin as he sailed over the horizon. She supported his family while he was gone, and cannot be thanked enough.
She was a wrestling mom, taking care of her youngest son Matt, being there in the stands, through making weight and injuries, all while Jim and Davin were gone. She was a dedicated volunteer, a constant at school events, helping Navy Relief, and an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization. Mary was the first one there to help and her love, comfort, and compassion were felt by everyone. One of the greatest travesties is that, due to her illness, she was unable to show the same love and care to her six grandchildren.
Over the last years Jim has had the watch in taking great care of Mary. Her Angels have the watch now and she will be forever missed by all who knew her. We hope that she knew how much we all loved her in return.
In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by two sons, Davin
O’Hora and wife Amanda, and Matt O’Hora and wife Robin, and six
grandchildren, Matthew, Seth, Brendon, Davis, Sydney, and Westin.
Mary was the middle of five children, and is survived by her three
sisters, Cathey McClain Finlon and husband Dick, Anne McClain, and Elizabeth McClain Stradtner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Chris McClain.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to
Alzheimer’s research.
