She was born in White County, Tennessee on September 18th, 1934 to Chatt Cannon and Annie Mae Breedlove Cannon. In her school years, she was a star basketball player along with Thelma Sanders Seals and Elizabeth Templeton Gooch which now are the only two survivors from their class at Walling School. All three kept in touch over the years and miles. Momma married Daddy, July, 1951, and our step-Dad, August, 1984.
Momma was a homemaker in our younger years, went to work and retired from Turtle Creek Nursing Home. Momma enjoyed planting a garden every year, her roses and flowers, embroidery, taking pictures and home videos, traveling, word search books, family birthday parties, fishing, cooking and baking. There will never be a Banana Pudding made like my Momma’s, soooo gooood.
Momma was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister, our Daddy, George Posten, step-Dad, Leo Roddy, son and daughter-in-law William and Nancy Posten and granddaughter, Christina Williams.
Momma is survived by a brother, Roy Cannon (Judy), daughter Gail Hutcherson (James) son Ronald Posten (Tawlie), 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Momma lead a long and healthy life, never meeting a stranger and willing to help anyone. She was a giving person and left us with many memories that will be forever cherished. She will always be in our hearts, thought of daily, missed greatly and loved infinitely.
A graveside service for Mary will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
