Michael Bibb was born February 21, 1960, in Jacksonville and attended grammar school at Fishweir Elementary and Jr. & Sr. High at Trinity Christian Academy. He loved history and science and did pretty well in math. He got second place in a science competition in the 9th grade. James and Jennie Bibb, his parents, were very proud of him.
He joined the Navy right out of high school and served 4 years on a carrier. He often worked on deck when they needed an extra hand but his main job was store keeper. He was an expert in obtaining anything the crew needed even when it didn’t seem to be available anywhere. That made him quite popular with the crew.
Mike enjoyed participating in Civil War Reenactments and often seemed to end up being the official cook. He even participated as an extra in a movie about the Civil War. One of his hobbies was collecting guns and he was very knowledgeable about all guns. While he held many various jobs with different organizations such as the Garden Club, the Jewish Center, and Riverside Presbyterian Church, his love for the outdoors led him to doing lawn and landscaping type work. He took care of a number of yards belonging to Riverside Presbyterian members to earn extra money. He, of course, did his parents’ yard as well.
Mike also enjoyed going with his friends to use a metal detector on the beaches and in and around woods, etc., and found any number of interesting artifacts as well as a collection of sharks’ teeth.
He loved mysteries and comedies and action-type TV shows. If they made a mistake in the story-line concerning history or guns, etc., he would give the correct information out loud to whoever would listen.
He loved his grandmother and grandfather Klicker (Jennie’s parents) who took care of him while his parents had to work. They were fine Christians and taught Mike that all people were equal in God’s sight. His parents were also active in church and during his young teen years, Mike actively participated in Mission trips.
His father died in 2008 and Mike moved in with his mother in 2023 as he was beginning to have serious lung issues. He was her brain and she was his helper as by this time he had become ill with a serious lung infection and other lung issues that finally took his life at age 65.
