He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katherine Anne. He leaves behind his son, Patrick Michael (Sandra) and daughters, Christina Marie McLeod (Kenneth), Nanette Aileen Stevens (Robert) and Erin Elaine Madigan, as well as his grandchildren, Valeri Jacquelene Cain (Matthew), Caitlin O’Neal McLeod, Maura Teresa Madigan, Sean Patrick Madigan, Abigail Anne Stevens, Emily Louise Stevens and Katherine Sarah Stevens.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 17, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Marguerite, and his brothers James and Terrence.
Mike loved to regale everyone with stories of the things he did and saw while serving in the Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Des Moines.
Mike had a lifelong passion for model railroading and maintained an intricate HO scale layout his entire adult life.
He was also an avid model builder – ships and airplanes, always a stickler for detailed accuracy.
The funeral will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service starting at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow in the cemetery.
