Nancy Carol Thornton

Nancy Carol Thornton, loving mother, grandmother and devoted wife, age 77, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on January 3, 2024, after battling with dementia. She was born in Douglas, GA on April 23, 1946 to Arthur Clements and Ruby Vickers Clements. She married Johnny L. Thornton, Jr on October 5, 1973.

Nancy Carol was a real estate broker for 30 plus years. She belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi/Chi Psi club.

She is survived by husband of 50 years, Johnny L. Thornton, Jr.; sister, Gail Meyer (Stan); daughters, Kimberly McGrane (Matt) and Deborah Knight (Bert); son, Jonathan “Cary” Thornton (Lorrie); step-daughters, Anne Thornton (John) and Sheri Gillihan (Chris); granddaughters, Brooke Griffin (Ryan), Abygail Thornton, Lilly Knight, Jacky Daniels, and Alli Rae Farren (Daniel); grandsons, Jason Griffin (Morgan), Brooks Langdo and Jonathan Thornton; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Arthur Clements and Ruby Vickers Clements; step-mother, Sally Clements; step-sisters, Becky Mixon and Lennie Mixon.

A visitation for Nancy will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Fund at act.alz.org
