Naomi was born March 25, 1918, on Otway, N. C., the daughter of Bryant “Rumley” Gillikin and Julia Gillikin. She graduated from Smyrna High School, Smyrna, N.C. in 1936. She was a proud member of the Smyrna basketball team. She was a long time member of the San Jose Church of Christ, Jacksonville, Florida. She married Carl Lawrence of Otway, N.C. on February 15, 1938 and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1981.
Survivors include: Daughter, Diane (Robert) Pertile, Son, Roy (JoAnn) Lawrence of Jacksonville, Florida; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, sister Sophronia Pittman of Stacy, N.C.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Carl Lawrence, parents Bryant “Rumley” Gillikin and Julia Frances Gillikin of Otway, N.C.; brothers: Frank, Jerald, and Norman Gillikin of Otway, N.C., Russell Gillikin of Seaford, Virginia; sisters: Brenda Gillikin of Otway, N.C., and Elwanda Gentry of Decatur, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 12-2pm, Monday, January 2, 2012 for family and friends at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd N. Jacksonville, FL. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Gethsemane Gardens, Morehead City, N.C. and a visitation will be held at Bell-Munden Funeral Home, 2112 Arenell Street, Morehead City, NC.
