Richard David Rawlins Sr.

Richard David Rawlins Sr., age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Richard was born November, 19, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was raised in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, by his mother Cora-Mae Harris and his step-father Sinclair Robinson. He was a Lifeguard, a plumber, and a plumber inspector.

Married on September, 6, 1964 to his love of his life Marilyn Rose who preceded him in death 3 months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Out of the union they had 2 children; Richard D Rawlins Jr. (Becky), Lori Gates (Keith), and Granddaughter Elizabeth Melaugh (Mike) whom they helped raise from an infant.

He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for over 50 years. He was loved by so many people that absolutely adored him. He was such a great Son, Husband, Papa, Brother and friend.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; Cora-Mae Harris and his step-father Sinclair Robinson; his wife Marilyn Rose; his siblings, Charlene and Shirley; and his granddaughter Leanne.

He is survived by his children; Richard D Rawlins Jr. and Lori Gates; his sister, Janie (Bobby); his grandchildren, Knikki (Sam), Elizabeth (Mike), Tori (Joseph), Autumn (Devyn), Sierra; 12 great grandchildren, Felicity, Nathan, Michelle, Natalie, Dean, Dexter, Emmett, Calvin, Samson, Nathen, Preston, Braxton, and Grayson; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be a Private celebration of Richard’s life.

Officiant will be his Granddaughter Elizabeth Melaugh.
