I remember the first time I met Papa. He was building an addition to the home and he loved it when I said his garage smelled like Home Depot.  If he wasn’t building, or working, or on a mission than he was on the dock.  With a smile and always a joke he had a way of making everyone feel like a good friend and at ease.  When he became Papa his whole world became evident in the special and fun things he did for Katelyn, Lauryn, and Jacob.  From putting them in the “pocket” to get them to sleep to letting them play in piles of dirt to stamping rain deer hooves in the ground to add to the magic of Christmas.  Even still on the cabinets in the garage are the markings of each grandchild as they grew each year. His love evidently never ending and will live on with the family and memories shared.  His SOP - standard operating procedure was love of family, his work which he enjoyed and excelled at, his wife Linda, and old westerns/ movies, a good southern meal, sweet tea and coffee. His impact of love and dedication will live on through Linda, Rick, Kathy, and grandchildren and great grand child.  I was blessed to have spent the time with him that I did.  The world is definitely different without his light.  Miss and love you Papa.

My dear friend, So many memories we created together trough the years, but together the biggest one was our friendship.

the visits my wife Clara and myself would take to your house to see how my buddy was doing, the phone calls we had, the jokes, the good laughter, the lunch times with the group. so many things that we share that will be missed my dear friend.

I knew Richard as Papa and he’s certainly lived up to the name. Papa had a way of touching you even if you’d only just met him with his silly jokes and sense of family and warm welcome. Some of my favorite memories of Papa are of him making all of us grandkids laugh when he’d use a paper towel roll as an instrument and do funny dances to put a smile on our faces. I remember waking up early in the morning and he’d always be ready to make me a “chocca-milk” as I’d say. There are endless memories from fishing to him reading to me “in the pocket” to watching cartoons early in the morning. Most recently I got to meet him as a great grandpa with my daughter Elynor and it has been one of the best moments in my life. He loved her so much and always made her laugh and smile just as he did for me. He has always been an integral part of my life and he will be missed dearly. I love you Papa.

I have so many beautiful memories with Richard, I  can't decide which one to share.  He was a loving, giving husband of 47 years. I  have lost half of. me.
I will continue alone knowing he is at peace with Jesus
I will  laugh every day about some remembrance of him.
He gave me  the great gift of laughter.  He would want me to laugh, even now while my heart is breaking. 
I will always love you baby and look for the day that I see you again in heaven.  I will live vibrantly with  our son,  daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great granddaughter until my time comes to be with  Jesus. 
I know that is what you would want me to do
