Robert “Pops” Bracht, 65, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born in Rochester, New York in March of 1953. He married the love of his life, Donna Marangoni, on a beautiful spring day in May of 1977.
Pops was a family man and loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching and cheering on his favorite football teams, the Buffalo Bills and the Georgia Bulldogs. Pops especially loved to grill outside and spent many hours tending to his garden.
Pops took care to teach his grandchildren many things, including how to garden and cook. He also passed his love of motorcycles down to them as well. Many cherished trips were taken with his family to spend a weekend in Daytona during Bike Week. Pops, along with his wife Donna, was also known throughout his neighborhood as the local animal savior, taking in stray cats and dogs and showering them with love and affection. Pop’s heart was full of love for his family and his pets.
Pops was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Donna Bracht, and his parents, George and Virginia Bracht. He is survived by his children, Kimo, Mike, Robin, and Rena, his grandchildren, Kimo Jr., Samara, Karen, Saige, Rhea, Tyler, Emily, and Dylan, He is also survived by his beloved pets, his cats, Dolly, Molly, Snickers, Hope, Butter, and Yucky, and his dogs, Buddy and Scooter. Pops was an admirable man, and he is so dearly loved by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00pm, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
