Robert Lloyd Johnston, Jr., age 72, passed away March 2, 2018 after battling cancer at Haven Hospice, Custead Care Center in Orange Park, Florida. Robert was born in Yukon, Florida and resided in Jacksonville, Florida as well as New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans. Later on, he became a radio operator in the U.S. Navy while stationed in Guam during the Vietnam War. His last duty assignment and major command was on the USS Bennington
(CVS-20).
He was a member of the West Park Baptist Church of Jacksonville and had a second degree black belt through Yesha Ministries.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm, along with burial at Riverside Memorial Park.
