Robert (Bob) W. Collins, 85 years of age, passed away September 2, 2016. He was a longtime Jacksonville resident. Born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Lorton, Virginia. Graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1953. Earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting. Served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. Was a member of the Catholic faith and an Accountant by profession. Proceeded in death by his parents, William and Mary Collins and his brother Bill. He is survived by his sole mate, wife Carol of 33 years and brother Joe of West Palm Beach, FL, son Steve and his wife Stacy, three daughters, Lori Odom and her husband Gary, Pam Cooper and her husband Dennis, Traci Smith and her husband Johnathon, step-sons Kenneth May and wife Angie and Windell May, 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He attended Mount Vernon High School and college at Virginia Tech. He retired from the Florida Times Union.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7th, 11:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N., Jacksonville, FL. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. www.hardage-giddenschapelhills.com
