LAVARIAS—Romeo C. Lavarias, 72, passed away June 27, 2005 in Jacksonville, FL where he was a resident since 1973. Mr. Lavarias was born in Capas Tarluc, Philippines and was active with the Jacksonville Pilipino community. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 2, 2005 by Father Alan Bower. Interment in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens will immediately follow the funeral service. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Alice Lavarias; sons, Romeo Lavarias Jr. (Stephanie) and Ruben “Benny” Lavarias (Angie); daughter, Brenda Hidalgo (Orlando); brothers, Hector Lavarias and Raul Lavarias; sister, Melba Velina; grandchildren, Alyssa, Cassidy, Lauren, and Bongy; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 8:30 PM, Friday, July 1, 2005 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS CHAPEL HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd.
