Ruthy loved sports with golf being her favorite (Club Champion for many years and 4 hole-in-ones after age 75). She adored her family and friends and had a great sense of humor. She was strongly independent, generous, spunky and her strong faith kept her attitude positive. She had beautiful blue eyes, a wonderful smile and made friends easily. She volunteered at Mayo Clinic, The Players Championship and was an active member of Palms Presbyterian Church.

She was born in Hornell, NY on January 1, 1919. Grew up in Warren, Ohio and attended Miami of Ohio. They raised their family in Bay City, MI and retired in Long Boat Key, FL.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Barron Deker Berger, Sr., parents, Marjorie and Winters Johnstone and sister Esther.

She is survived by her three children, son Buzz Berger (Stacey), daughters Carney Kirtley (Bill) and Sally Fillipps (Don),

12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM at Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach on Monday, July 29th.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or a favorite charity.
