April 17, in Jacksonville, Florida. Ruth was
an incredibly devoted wife and mother. She
had a warm smile, quick wit, and a contagious
laugh. She enjoyed gardening, cooking,
rocking on the porch, caring for her pets, and
Jaguars football.
She is preceded in death by her husband of
46 years, Houston Harrah; parents, Haskell
and Jean Alford; sister, Marlene Chappell and
brother, Ronald Alford.
She is survived by her son, John Harrah (Phyllis)
and granddaughter, Amelia; daughter, Debbie
Knight; sister, Barbara Hines; brothers, Ernest
Alford (Carolyn), Richard Alford (Tonya) and
Walter Alford, as well as nieces and nephews
she loved as dearly as her own children.
The family will receive friends at Chapel Hills
Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff N, Jacksonville,
FL 32225 on Friday, April 20, from 6-8pm.
Funeral service and burial will take place at Chapel
Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, April 21, at 2pm.
