

Left this Earth and went to Heaven on December 21, 2020 at Elmcroft Senior Living in Jacksonville, Florida, where he and his wife (Myrtis) of 75 years, resided.
Sam was born on January 14, 1927 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the son of Samuel Marvin Ellison Sr. and Sarah (Stevens) McWaters. On May 20, 1945, he married the love of his life, Myrtis (Suber) Ellison.
Sam was in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting in North Africa and Italy. He was retired from the Jacksonville Fire Department. He loved music and for a short time played in a band. He was a member of Jones Road Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir. Sam never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. He loved the outdoors, traveling and his second home in Franklin, North Carolina, which he built himself with the help of relatives.
He is survived by his wife Myrtis Suber Ellison, 3 daughters, Rebecca Gray (Ron), Bonnie Odle and Janet Swank (Kenneth); 2 sons, Bruce Ellison (Bee) and Kelly Ellison (Debbie); 10 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; his sister Carolyn; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Sarah; his beloved stepfather; William; brothers, Buddy and Jimmy; sister, Geraldine; also, his granddaughter, Erin and grandson, Joel.
A private service will be held at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
