

Stephen was the son of Dr. Gary Spence and Schatzi Spence. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering and dedicated his career to working with CSX and the Department of Environmental Protection.
Stephen was a proud Mason and an avid scale modeler who won many awards through his modeling club. He was also a Notary Public and found great joy in performing marriage ceremonies. He spoke fluent Tagalog and had a deep love for Filipino culture, often leading Tagalog classes to children and sharing his passion with others.
Stephen had a joyful spirit, he loved to sing “especially Tagalog songs”, tell jokes and bring laughter to those around him. He was known for being friendly, open-minded and kindhearted.
He met the love of his life Jennifer, during a trip to the Philippines in September 2005, it was love at first sight and they were married on July 1, 2006, in Jacksonville, Florida and would have celebrated 20 happy years together. Stephen was a devoted and loving husband, whose loyalty and affection were evident in all aspects of his life.
He was a caring loving son and brother and a dear friend to many known for his warm personality He easily connected with people.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer C. Spence: Dr. Gary Spence (father), Schatzi Spence (mother), Martina Spence (stepmother), Stacy Spence (sister), Steven Brown (brother-in-law), Marshall Spence (brother), his wife Christina, Tristan and Adien (nephews).
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on April 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Road. Jacksonville, FL 32225.
Stephen’s memory will live on in the heart of those he touched.
