Tamika Ann McConner was born on October 3, 1973 to Herman and Thelma Clark in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On July 23, 1995 she found love and a lifelong marriage with her husband Woodley Lamont McConner. That same year, they relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where they raised their family.
Tamika worked secularly in the medical field, but her passion was teaching, caring for little children, and spending time with family. She loved being around her family and friends. She was readily available for a gathering or conversation - no matter the time; even when she was not feeling well.
Tamika was a very spirited woman, and remained so throughout her whole life. Feeling that actions spoke louder than words, she willingly put the needs of others above her own. Energetic, thoughtful, caring, and devoted are a few words that come to mind when thinking of her.
She started studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses in the late 1990’s and dedicated her life to Jehovah in March 2001. Her love for her God, Jehovah, and her love of people, motivated her to spend as much time as possible in the ministry where she helped others learn the Bible. She also longed to see the fulfillment of God’s promise where he says, “And no resident will say: I am sick”! (Isaiah 33:24). That promise brought her comfort until her falling asleep in death on December 15, 2013.
Tamika is predeceased by her twin brother, Herman Clark, Jr. She leaves to mourn her loss husband, Woodley Lamont McConner; her son, Yahseam Nelson; daughter, Yahseama Nelson; son, Mereno Scott; daughter, Montiyanah McConner; daughter, Tatiyanah McConner; her parents Herman and Thelma Clark; sisters Iberia Washington-Tinsley, Tyrnell Clark (Ronald Butt), and Shelly Clark (Chris Gillmore); granddaughter, Adrianna Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She felt many different emotions in her lifetime, but regret was never one of them.
