Thomas “Tommy” I. Dean, 78, passed away November 11, 2014 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born July 14, 1936 in Bainbridge, Georgia to Robert and Hazel (Burns) Dean. He is preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of Murray Hill Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 137 since 1987. Thomas retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army with a medical retirement. He served two tours in Germany and a tour of duty in Vietnam. Thomas was the recipient of a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal w/olc, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device 1960, and a good conduct medal bronze clasp w/4 loops. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marianna Dean; two sister-in-laws Christine Klockow and Gertrude Klopf; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow services at Riverside Memorial Park.
