Thomas S May

Thom met a sweet teacher, Julia Griffin in February 1965 during a Sunday School class at this very church. In July 1965 he took Julia as his beloved wife. Five years later their son Scott completed their family.

After Thom’s retirement he and Julia started traveling. Some of their favorite places to visit were the North Georgia Mountains and Hilton Head, South Carolina. Thom love to go boating and sailing, Julia not so much but she loved Thom and his adventurous spirit. Thom also loved woodworking and was a member of Jax Woodworkers for many years.

Thom has been a member of the Murray Hill United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Thom served in many capacities at the church. It brought Thom and Julia great joy to serve by delivering Meals on Wheels. Thom enjoyed his grandkids, Hadleigh & Harrison and spent weekends watching them play.

Thom was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. & Lola Oscar G. May. His brothers Jack B. May and Oscar G. May.

He is survived by his wife Julia of 60 years, his son Scott, wife Shannon and 2 grandchildren Hadleigh & Harrison.

Visitation will be held at Murray Hill United Methodist Church, 4101 College St, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on April 17, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at Murray Hill United Methodist Church, 4101 College St, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on April 17, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.
