Prior to retirement he served in the U.S Navy as a submariner for 21 years. He then retired from the Duval County School System. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his Daughter, Cheryl Anne Perkins of Jacksonville, FL, a son Michael Steven Perkins of Jacksonville, FL and a longtime friend, Mary John Stone and his former wife, Consuelo Perkins.
A visitation will be on May 25, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 5:00pm with Military Honors immediately following.
