

Vernon Dwayne Williams 78, born on April 02, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas was a man with loving values and humanity. He loved to help those in need and also self-reflected on his life. He showed great humility and professionalism in and out of his daily life. His compassion for others lead to his greatness and church life. It’s with deep sadness that we announce his passing on January 17, 2026 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Vernon joined the United States Navy in April 1969 stationed in Key West and Mayport, Florida, serving 4 years of service and tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War receiving honorable discharge. He was received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. He worked for Baptist Health System for 20+ years in the Patient Accounting, the Credit Union and then in Primary Care Billing before retiring.
Vernon is survived by his wife Linda Lorraine Williams 75 and 3 children Lorne Dwayne Williams 53, Tracy Clayton Williams 50, and Tiffany Lorraine LaCombe 45. He has 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home on Friday, January 23 2026 from 5pm - 7pm at 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, January 24, 2026 starting at 9am at 7665 Ft Caroline Rd Jacksonville, Florida 32277 with Funeral Procession after to final resting place at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home at 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
