Virginia Dillingham

Virginia Lee (Waldron) Dillingham (Ginny), age 82, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away December 24, 2020. Ginny was born August 2, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the wife of Dennis Dillingham, the mother of Marcia (Dillingham) Bonney and Roxanne (Dillingham) Lambert, and the grandmother of Donald Lambert, Jr., Victoria Bonney, Kathryn Lambert, and Amanda Bonney. Ginny was the daughter of Wilbur Francis Waldron (Bill) and Ellen Elizabeth (Cross) Waldron (Betty), and the sister of Bill Waldron, Alicia (Waldron) Springer, Ralph Waldron, Stuart Waldron, and Bob Waldron. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Dillingham, her parents Bill and Betty Waldron, her sister Alicia Springer, and her brothers Stuart and Bob Waldron. Ginny graduated from Haynesville High School in Haynesville, Louisiana, in 1956, and from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, in 1960. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Dennis Dillingham. They were married for 56 years. In her career, Ginny worked as a registered nurse from 1960 to 1975, and in 1975 became a school teacher. She was retired from the Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Florida.

Ginny is survived by her daughters Marcia Bonney and Roxanne Lambert, sons-in-law Mark Bonney and Donald Lambert, four grandchildren, Donald Lambert, Jr., Victoria Bonney, Kathryn Lambert, and Amanda Bonney, brothers Bill and Ralph Waldron, sisters-in-law, Laura Waldron, Kay Waldron, and Nancy Waldron, brother-in-law Jim Springer, and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at the Hardage Giddens Funeral Home at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida 32225, on Sunday, January 3, 2021, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.. A graveside funeral service will be held at the Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Jacksonville Humane Society.
