Walter was known for his warm heart, kind spirit, and ability to never meet a stranger. He loved people, enjoyed conversation, and made everyone around him feel welcome. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and treasured the time spent with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Smith; his brother, Don Smith (Joann); his daughter, Debbie Vinson; his sons, Walter Smith III (Sabina) and Wilbur Smith; his grandchildren, Josh Wood, Meredith Forkum, and Jed Smith; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Brooke, Paige, Cooper, Reese, Brandon, Lucas, and Caleb.
Walter’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on May 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm. with the Committal Service at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, on May 14, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
