Dr. Wayne W. Upton, 82 of Jacksonville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2012. Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Barbara Haralson Upton; daughter, Loree Upton; son, Carey Upton and his wife Adele Cabot, and sister, Laura Parker. Wayne followed the Lord’s calling to serve as a pastor and missionary throughout his entire life including pastoring Jacksonville Heights Baptist Church for 28 years. Dr. Upton was Professor of Missiology at Luther Rice Seminary and taught students in Jacksonville and all over the world. Wayne served his country in the United State Navy during the Korean Conflict. Wayne will be remembered as a commited and dedicated pastor, teacher, counselor, and friend to all he encountered.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax FL 32205. Visitation will be held today, Friday, August 17, 2012 from 2:00-3:00 pm. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
