Wilbert James Prevatt, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. Wilbert was born on May 2, 1926 in High Springs, Florida. He was employed with Southern Coastline Railroad SCL, which later became known as CSX, for approximately 42 years. Wilbert was a member of the Heart Haven Baptist Church. He was a loving spouse, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Wilbert is preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Prevatt, and his second wife, Geneva Prevatt. He is survived by his current wife, Gloria Whitty Prevatt; children Cecelia Humphries (Eddy), Terri Denmark (Dallas Smith), James L. Prevatt, and Willie L. Prevatt (Kara); step-daughter, Shirley J. Hazelett; one brother, Jackie Goolsby; sisters, Ina Mae Chemente, Bessie Marie Dawkins, Imogene Varnes, and Dorothy Lavern Brightwell; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 3:00pm at Town and Country Funeral Home. Reverend Don Cooley will serve as officiant. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 2:00pm Saturday. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
