He was born on April 24th, 1936 in Tylertown, MS. He retired from the Navy and made Jacksonville, FL his home with his wife Ruby and their seven children. Joe went to work for Angelo’s Italian Restaurant and worked there until its closing. He was a dedicated husband, loving & caring father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Joe was a member of Regency Baptist Temple where he and Ruby attended as much as possible. He adored his church family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby and their precious baby girl Mary Ann. He is survived by his children, Sharon & Frank Carey of Jacksonville, FL., Debbie & Rodney Sanders of Columbia, MS., Keith & Christy Hobgood of Oakvale, MS., Gina Wahid of St. Augustine, FL., Tina & Patrick Baxley of Jacksonville, FL., and John Hobgood of St. Augustine, FL. 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
