

Willie James Burton, was born in Ft. Pierce, FL. on October 10, 1948 to the parents of James Burton and Sarah Lucas (Burton), who preceded him in death. Willie, age 73, passed away peacefully January 28, 2022.
Willie attended and graduated from Stanton Vocational High School in 1967. During school he began working at the naval air station where he met Vera Burns. The two were married in 1969 and their union lasted 53 years. Willie was employed with Ernie Palmer Toyota for 27 years as a service manager and retired in 2013. Willie was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and friends. Willie's christian faith was an essential part of his life. He served as a deacon and board member at Orange Park Christian Center, spending a great deal of time ministering to others before becoming a member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Vera Burton, son, Kevin Burton, daughter, LeShaun Burton, granddaughter, Khaydrea Burton, grandsons, Chris Thomas & Symir Burton. Two brothers, Larry Burton and Sylvester Burton. One sister, Dorothy Williams (Buddy). Along with his many in-laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, devoted friends and brothers/sisters in Christ. All of these whom he loved and touched deeply. He was preceded in death by his brothers William Leon Burton, Jimmy Burton, Rudolph Burton, Glen Burton, James Burton, Robert Davis; sisters Katie Diane Cooper, Inez Jones, Alice Samuel, Margaret Stanford, Bertha Brooks, Hazel Robinson and brother-in-law's Arthur Burns, James Burns & sister-in-law Margarette Nealy.
"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Family & friends are invited to attend the wake on Thursday, February 3, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205. Home-going services will be held on Friday February 4, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1118 W Beaver St, Jacksonville, FL 32204.
