He is survived and deeply loved by his best friend and companion, Jo Cavanaugh, and her family: Chris Cavanaugh, Erika Wessels, and Stella, Claire, and Audrey Cavanaugh. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Davis Meier and Marcia (John) Roney; his brothers, Thomas(Pat) Davis and James (Sue) Davis; and his many nieces and nephews: Shannon and Alicia; Danielle, Adam, and Andrew; Jeremy, Sarah, Rebecca, and Emily; Jason, Joshua, Kelly, Brian, and John, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he remembered with great love and affection. Brian is reunited in heaven with his loving parents, Janet and Thomas Davis, whom he adored.
Brian was born in Detroit, Michigan, and spent the majority of his life in Michigan. His mother was Polish, and he loved her dearly, especially her sauerkraut and sausage, baked beans, and cabbage rolls, which he often enjoyed making with her. Brian’s father was Welsh, and Brian shared his love for gardening. Like his dad, he loved getting his hands in the soil, planting flowers and shrubs, and caring for them daily, often talking to them as he worked. One of his most cherished plants was a wisteria tree given to him by his Aunt Stella.
Brian loved deeply and formed friendships easily. He had a special charm that led to many meaningful, long-lasting relationships throughout his life. If Brian loved you, you knew it. He truly cared about the people in his life and always wanted the best for them. He encouraged everyone he loved to be happy with who they were and to live their best life.
Music was one of Brian’s great passions. He enjoyed listening to both old favorites and new artists and loved to sing. In his earlier years, he attended Fred Waring Choral Workshops in Pennsylvania, where he learned to sing with precision, sensitivity, and enthusiasm.
Brian loved to travel, and many who read this may have shared a journey with him at one time or another. He especially loved the beach, both in the Caribbean and closer to home in Michigan. He traveled often by cruise ship, plane, train, and automobile, always eager to experience something new and exciting.
Brian loved all animals and would have gladly welcomed mini pigs, raccoons, or just about any creature into his family. He often imagined living on a small farm, caring for animals. His last pet, Izzy, a devoted white flame-point Siamese cat, seems lost without him, just as Brian felt when Dieter, CoCo, Bina, Morgan, and Maxine crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Brian worked as an IT Specialist and most recently at Ford Motor Company through Strategic Staffing Solutions. He was a respected coworker and a trusted friend to many, both professionally and personally. He will be deeply missed.
May Brian rest in peace and love with his loved ones.
At Brian’s request, a private memorial will be held. Those who wish to honor Brian’s memory may make a donation to the Humane Society of Michigan, noting that the gift is in honor of Brian Davis.
