Duane McDermid

MCDERMID, Duane, age 80, passed away January 26, 2017. He was born in Detroit and a longtime resident of West Bloomfield. Duane is an Alumni of Xavier High School and The University of Detroit. He was the loving husband to Paula (McClary) McDermid for 47 years. Duane proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Ford Motor Company and Rouge Steel Company for 43 years. Duane was preceded in death by his parents Angus and Catherine McDermid; his siblings Earl and Marilyn McDermid; and infant daughter Megan. He was the devoted father to Melissa (Steve) Wiercinski and Christopher (Kim) McDermid; Adoring grandpa of Declan and Joshua. Duane was cherished by his niece and nephews; deeply loved by his many Detroit and Canadian cousins; and will be dearly missed by his many friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 1-8 PM at Pixley Funeral Home Godhardt-Tomlinson Chapel, 2904 Orchard Lake Rd., Keego Harbor, MI. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11 AM, In-State at 10:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Rd., West Bloomfield, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
