Emily Kennard Glenn Wright

Emily Kennard (Glenn) Wright, of Bloomfield Hills, peacefully departed from her beloved family and friends on July 29th, 2014. Born on August 7th, 1932, an upcoming event which will be filled with great celebration of her truly magnificent life.

Emily was born to Claude and Rachel Irene (Pepper) Glenn and grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi as the baby sister of Benjamin and Francis. She graduated from College Grove City College in Pennsylvania. On September 1, 1956, she married her husband of 57 years, William (Bill) Wright. They were blessed with six beautiful children; Bill, Greg, Jeff, Robin, Randy and Jason. She cherished her eleven grandchildren: Andrea and Bryan Buczkowski, and Josh (Carli), Whitney, Caitlin, Kelley, Brendon, Shelby, Ben, Halle and newest arrival, Jake Wright.

Emily worked for the airlines after college and then in the accounting department at Ford Tractor. The career which gave her the greatest satisfaction in life was that of motherhood. Emily exuded the most powerful sense of love. There are truly no words that could do justice to her understanding and expression of love. The output of unconditional love, welcoming embrace, and empathy is a lesson many of us have learned from her warm heart. This same striking love was also graciously experienced by all that came into her awesome presence. Her optimism was unwavering and incredibly hopeful. Being surrounded by those she loved, Emily enjoyed golfing with her girlfriends, and social outings with her old “Ford” friends. Lifelong friends, Rita-Mae and Stuart Wright are two of her dearest friends that reciprocally enjoyed the extraordinary friendship of each other. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her and those lucky enough to call her their Wife, Mom, Grandma, and friend. Her lasting impression and awesome love lives through those fortunate enough to be dear to her heart. Her beautiful spirit has joined the immense and vast beauty of our Heavens and compliments it so very much.

Survivors include her husband, William, children Bill (Bethe) Wright, Greg (Karen) Wright, Jeff (Brenda) Wright, Robin (Bryan) Buczkowski, Randy Wright, and Jason (Robyn) Wright and her eleven grandchildren, brother Benjamin Glenn, sister Francis (Barney) Sumrall, brother-in-law Don (Sandy) Wright and sister-in-law Gail Casey.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, August 8th in Keego Harbor. Please contact the family for location and details. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
