Sheila L. Murphy

SHEILA L. MURPHY, age 69. Passed away on July 13, 2011. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, raised in Keego Harbor. Graduate of West Bloomfield High School in 1960. In 1959 she was an exchange student from WBHS to Sweden. BA in Political Science, graduated with honors in 1964, MSW in Social Work in 1966, both degrees from the University of Michigan. She played bassoon with the U of M Symphony Band on its 1961 tour of the Soviet Union, Middle East and Europe, which was one of the first cultural exchange programs between the United States and the Soviet Union. Practicing Psychiatric Social Worker for 41 years in Washington DC and at the Sheppard-Enoch Pratt Hospital in Towson, Maryland. Survived by her beloved sister Gail (Dennis) Daly and beloved brother Keith T. Murphy. Preceded in death by her parents Kern and Hazel and her beloved brother Richard. The family will have an intimate Memorial Service on Friday. July 15 at 1:00 pm at the Pixley Funeral Home, 2904 Orchard Lake Road, in Keego Harbor.
