First a son, then, a brother, a husband, and a father. Always a trusting and gentle friend. Walt grew up in Detroit, attending Guardian Angels Elementary School and Notre Dame High School. He went on to graduate from Wayne State University with a Bachelors Degree in business.
After a few years in California managing a porcelain import company, Walt returned to Michigan and became a general contractor designing and building new homes as well as remodeling old ones. His pride and joy was converting a former working barn into a prize worthy residence for the owners. Loving anything to do with water, Walt enjoyed fishing skiing, swimming, scuba diving, sailing and all water craft from rowboat size to trawler. He also enjoyed woodworking, music, gardening, and his beloved birds. And cooking—his family being the lucky recipients of thousands of meals over the years!
He leaves a huge hole in the lives of his wife of nearly 49 years, Carolyn, and daughters, Sarah and Lauren. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Henry Ford Game on Cancer or a favorite charity.
At this time, the family has chosen to remember Walter privately
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.familyfuneralcarekeego.com for the Burger family.
