SSG Albert M. Jacobs of Killeen, Texas was born December 11, 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas to Walter and Rosie Helen Jacobs. He was their fifth son and sixth child. Albert attained his formal education in both Fort Worth, Texas and Bakersfield, California. He graduated from Como High School in Fort Worth, Texas. Shortly after graduating from high school, Albert followed in the footsteps of his father and eldest brother by enlisting into the United States Military. Unlike his father a US Navy WWII Veteran, Albert enlisted into the US Army, following the military tradition of his eldest brother, John Henry Duffey. While enlisted in the US Army, Albert proudly served his country as a decorated US Army Military Police Officer and Staff Sergeant for over 25 years. During his tour of duty, he spent the majority of his time in Vietnam. The remainder of his time of service in the US Army was spent in Thailand and South Korea, where he met and married his wife of over 35 years Tae Sun. After Albert’s retirement from the US Army, he moved back to the USA, where he and his wife, lived in the Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas community, amongst military family and friends until their deaths.
Affectionately, referred to as Big Al, mainly because of his towering and muscular physique, Albert engaged in amateur boxing through the Golden Gloves of America boxing organization, and was a semi-professional martial arts fighter in Southeast Asia. He was a kind and overly generous soul who didn’t suffer fools lightly.
On November 29, 2021, Albert departed this earth after a short illness. His kind and giving heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Tae Sun Jacobs, daughter Gina Carol Jacobs-Kumar, his mother, Rosie Helen Duffey-Jacobs, father, Walter Jacobs, brothers, David Jacobs, John Henry Duffey, Dwight Edward Jacobs and Howard Jacobs, and sister, Janet Joyce Jacobs-Gaines.
He is survived by his son Albert M. Jacobs Jr. of Oakwood, Texas, brother, Walter Lee Jacobs of Fort Worth, Texas, sister, Darlene Helen Jacobs-Bowers of Bakersfield, CA, Grandson, Horace McCorvey of Middleburg, Florida and his faithful companion for 16 years, his dog-son, Prince Jacobs. Albert also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins, friends and associates.
