

Tony was born in Belton, Texas on September 29, 1948 to Jack and Marie (Wigley) Dunn. He attended all 12 grades in Killeen Independent School District graduating from Killeen High School in 1967. He then attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where he graduated with a B.S. in Health and Sports Medicine in 1971.
Tony married the love of his life, Karen Yarnell, in May 1970 at Memorial Baptist Church, Killeen, TX. They enjoyed almost 55 years of love, laughter, and life. Together they had one daughter and one son.
Tony began his career teaching and as Head Athletic Trainer at Snyder High School, Snyder, TX in 1971. During his time in Snyder, he was active in the Rotary Club and First Baptist Church. In 1977 he returned to Killeen to go into business with his father at Shine and Dunn Tire Service.
His love for students and athletics lured him back to teaching thus beginning his career as Head Athletic Trainer at Ellison High School. After 30 years, Tony retired from KISD in 2010.
Through the years Tony has been involved in many organizations. He served 21 years in the Killeen Volunteer Fire Dept rising to the rank of Lieutenant; named Killeen VFD Fire Fighter of the year in 1983; taught CPR and First Aid with the American Red Cross; member and Board of Director of the Killeen Jr. Livestock Assoc. from 1989-1995 and was named the American Business Women Association Business Associate of the year in 2004 and was inducted as the 2018 Comanche Gap Medicine Man. Tony was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church Killeen where he served on numerous committees.
Tony’s love of and compassion for people led him to Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Temple after retirement from KISD where he worked for the past 14 years.
Tony is preceded in death by his father; one sister, Cheryle Dunn; grandparents; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; one daughter, Dawn Willis (Ward) of Burleson, TX; one son, Toby Dunn (Shanna) of Schertz, TX; three granddaughters, Hallie Willis of Aiden, SC, Jesica Willis of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kaitlyn Havens of Temple, TX; one grandson, Andrew Dunn of South Bend, IN; his mother, Marie Dunn Pyburn of Killeen; one brother, Jackie Dunn Sr. (Kathy) of Killeen and several nieces and nephews.
Tony touched so many lives during his 76 yrs. and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Killeen. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Killeen Building Fund.
