Billie D. Cox, age 85 of Harker Heights, TX passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Born on November 29, 1939 in Bertram, Texas, would later move to Austin where he attended Travis High School. Billie met the love of his life, Carolyn (Whitley) Cox and they married in secret on May 8, 1959 in LaGrange, Texas and was married a year before telling their parents.
Billie survived by his brother, James Lewis Cox (Lynn) and his sons, Billie D. Cox, Jr (Rusty) (Denisha), David N. Cox (Kathy), and Michael W. Cox (Jean); and his grandchildren, Joy, Jennifer, Billie III (Trey), Jason, Shon, Jennifer, Robert, and great grandchildren, Cassidy, Connor, Penelope, Benjamin, Nick, Jewel, Eyan, Tyler, Brycen, Haliee, Charlotte; and great-great-grandchildren, Theodore, Aurora, Linkin, and Remington and their respective spouse/significant other. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Selma Cox, and wife, Carolyn Cox.
Billie served his military obligation with the Army National Guard, 36th Infantry Division out of Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. Billie and Carolyn moved to Killeen in 1962 and he went to work for the Kramer Motor Company, which eventually became Patriot Pontiac/GMC. He started out as a mechanic and worked his way up the ranks to become General Manager and would retire from there after more than 50 years of dedication. He was a very devoted husband to Carolyn as there was nothing he would not do for her. They spent much of their time together traveling to Switzerland, Jamaica, San Francisco, New Orleans and a couple of Alaskan cruises, just to name a few adventures. They also enjoyed hosting parties at their home for friends and family and never passed up a reason to celebrate. They were always together, very seldom would you see one without the other. After losing Carolyn, Billie had a hole that could not heal. Billie is once again with Carolyn, and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
A Celebration Of Life for Billie will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542.
