

David Weldon Bay passed away on September 18, 2025 in Temple, Texas. He was born on November 27, 1947 in Temple, Texas. He was the son of Cleo Weldon Bay Sr. and Mary Glennys Baker Bay. He grew up in Killeen with unconditional love, as a part of a big loving extended family. Many weekends and holidays would find the Bay family enjoying trips to Inks Lake or just having a meal at David’s grandparent’s home.
David was educated in all KISD schools and graduated from Killeen High School in May 1966. He then attended Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) in San Marcos, Texas. In 1968, David met his college sweetheart and best friend, Anita Lynn Craig. They were married on July 23, 1971, in La Marque, Texas.
David joined the Air Force on September 1st, 1971. He studied Russian at the Presidio in Monterey, California, where he trained as a linguist. During his time in the service, David was stationed in Sinop, Turkey for a year. The last two years of his service, David was assigned to Fort Meade, Maryland, where he worked at the National Security Agency.
David and Lynn then returned to Killeen in 1975. In 1976, they moved to San Marcos, Texas, where David finished his bachelor’s degree in History. After graduating, the couple then moved back to Killeen where David went to work with his dad at the Bay-Long Olds GMC dealership. When the dealership changed to Cleo Bay Imports, David became the Vice President of the organization.
Since 1983, David and Lynn have resided in Harker Heights, Texas where they raised their loving family. David spent several years in the Killeen-Heights Rotary Club. He was an avid reader, especially WW2 military history books. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. David immensely enjoyed movies, especially cartoons, fantasy, and history genres. He loved to travel and to capture his journeys with photography. His greatest love was spending time with his family and sharing stories.
David is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lynn Bay. His son, Alexander Weldon Bay and his daughter, Amy Lynn Bay. His brother in law, Dick Young and his brother in law and his wife, Tom and Janie Craig. His nephew and his wife, Jarrod and Jo Young, his niece and her husband, Alayna and Carl White and his niece, Shelby Craig. His great nephews, Jaydyn Lightfoot and Riley Young. His great nieces, Amber Young and Zoey White. His aunt and her husband, Laura and Bill Sinclair, his aunt, Nancy Toole and many cousins.
David is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Teresa Bay Young and brother, Cleo (Bub) Weldon Bay Jr.

Visitation is October 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
Services will be October 3rd at 1:00 pm at 1st Baptist Church of Killeen. Burial will follow at the Killeen City Cemetery.
