Born on July 8, 1939 to Giles Buel “Putt” and Leona Cosper, he was raised and educated in rural Bell County and grew up farming and ranching with his family. Don joined the Navy in 1956 and served his country proudly for four years. While in the Navy, he found his passion for electrical trades, serving as an electrical engineer aboard a Navy ship.
Don married Linda Daughtery Cosper on November 1st, 1963 and they had four daughters.
After his time in the Navy, he became a master electrician, and eventually opened his own business. Although he claimed being an electrician as his trade, he was also a commercial general contractor that could do and fix most anything. He took great pride in his profession and excelled in building quality projects. His dedication to his craft was evident in every project he undertook, and he was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He worked hard all of his life and his work ethic was truly unmatched. One of his super powers was being able to problem solve.
Family was at the heart of Don's life. He cherished the close bond he shared with his brothers and sisters, valuing the time spent together and the memories they created. As a father, he was a loving and supportive figure to his four daughters, always guiding them with wisdom and love. Don was also a doting grandfather to his four grandsons and two granddaughters. He took immense joy in watching them grow, offering his support and encouragement in all their endeavors.
In spite of Don’s intimidating stature, he was the most kind hearted, compassionate and helpful person you could ever meet. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kimberly Cosper-Avants, his sisters Joyce Carroll, Nell Lethco and Betty Langford, and his brothers Wayne Cosper and Larry Cosper.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 60 years, his sister Gloria Mann, and brother Phil Cosper; his daughters Debbie (Scott) Kinzel, Vicki Wilson, Donna Cosper; his grandchildren Braedon (Shelby) Avants, Jacob (Elise) Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Jackson Wilson, Emma Kinzel and Sarah Kinzel.
