

Dorothy O’Dell Goodnight passed quietly from this life at home surrounded by family and dear friends on December 31, 2009. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 4, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the WS Young Church of Christ. Family visitation will be at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home on Sunday, January 3, 2010, from 4:00-6:00 pm. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Weldon Goodnight Sr. and 5 children, Debra Goodnight and husband Danny , Betty Knight and husband Larry, Kitty Kacir, Caryl Baskin and husband Richard and Benton Goodnight and wife Theresa, eleven grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters with one more on the way. She is also survived by two brothers, Bill O’Dell and wife Helen of Amarillo and Bob O’Dell and wife Shirley of Hodges, OK.Dorothy was born on March 19, 1929 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to J.D. and Daisy O’Dell. Dorothy was a life-long resident of Killeen. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Maxdale Ladies Club and the Modern Study Club. She was a very active member of the Church of Christ, teaching Bible classes for all ages, cooking for the sick or bereaved or opening her home to those in need of a place to stay. She loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, working crossword puzzles and…ironing. Bowling with some of her best friends and traveling with her brothers Bill and Bob and their wives were some of her favorite pastimes. Dorothy was known for making the best hot rolls in town. She was loved by so many people that “adopted” her as their own mother or sister and will be greatly missed by all. Memorial donations may be made to Cherokee Home for Children.
