Edward R. Reider

Ed joined the army at age 24 and served for 26 years. He was very proud of his time spent in the Army. He served 3 tours in Germany and 2 tours in Korea including the Korean War. He retired on a Friday and started working the following Monday at Robert Gray Air Force Base, where he worked as a mechanic for another 20 years.

Ed met the love of his life while stationed in Warren, Ohio. He married his beautiful wife Judy in March 1959. Together they shared a happy and loving life and were married for 59 years up until Judy‘s passing in 2018.

Edward was preceded in death by his siblings Evelyn, Jean, Joe, Richard, and his daughter-in-law Robin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his sister Belle Leggette of Oklahoma, and brothers Griff and James Reider of East Texas, his two sons Kelly Reider of Austin and Rickey Reider of Killeen. His grandson Timmy Bonner of Killeen and a granddaughter Shirley (Kevin) Bayus of Ohio and great grandchildren, Kevin and Emily Bayus of Ohio. Many nieces and nephews and neighbors that became family, and his cat of 15 years “BB”.

Ed enjoyed spending his time tinkering around the garage working on vehicles and lawn equipment. He loved to travel and was very proud of being able to get him and Judy to 48 states as well as seeing most of Eastern Europe while stationed there.

Edward love to tell stories of his childhood, his travels, and his time in the army. He shared fond memories of his family who he cherished immensely.

Ed had a great sense of humor. He was quick witted and would come up with some of the funniest one liners.

He has always been known for being caring and loving, and always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private burial will be held.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Ed’s neighbors who always looked out for him. And a special thank you to the Reyna family for their love and support that they have given to him and Judy for well over the past 20 years.
