

Florence Opal Mahalko, 87, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2025 at her home in Killeen, TX, leaving a void her family will never fill.
She was born in Thorp, WI on April 9, 1938 and was the tenth child of nineteen.
Florence attended Taylor County teachers college in Wisconsin after graduating high school. On August 8, 1959 she began the next chapter of her journey with George Edward Mahalko's hand in marriage for the next 53 years. A military spouse for over 20 years offered her an abundance of opportunities for employment and travel. Her vast array of experiences included the library, retail, Girl Scout leader and numerous military programs; where she continually demonstrated professionalism and used her vast knowledge being an outstanding role model for the military community. In 1993, Florence completed her employment endeavors, retiring as a supervisor with K-Mart Corporation.
Her path of life allowed her to reside in Wisconsin, Washington, Virginia, California, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Korea, and Texas. In addition, having the opportunity to travel to Japan, Europe, and almost all the other 50 states.
Florence was a loving and selfless mother and wife.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a compassionate son, Gary Krupka of Neenah, WI, two devoted daughters, Brenda Mahalko-Hall of Copperas Cove, TX and Carla Larsson of Montgomery, TX; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Lorraine Grace Sitter; Darlene Luella Jarocki; Bonnie Jean Timo; and Sharon Marie Gilbertson; who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Andrew M. Kubera and Myrtie (Swim) Kubera; husband George Edward Mahalko; seven brothers, Alvin Clyde Kubera; Louis John Kubera; Arlyn Raymond Kubera; Wendell James Kubera; Andrew Robert Kubera; Harry Frederick Kubera; Gary Lee Kubera (stillborn); seven sisters, Ruby May Pearson; Dorothy Elaine Congemi; Marjorie Ruth Peleschak; Joyce Alice Markoutsis; Marlene Arlyce Baker; Mary Ellen Kell; and Judith Ann Kubera.
Her inurnment will be alongside her husband in Gilman, WI at Saint John's Orthodox Cemetery. Date will be shared with family and friends.
We no longer have her with us; however, we're content knowing you have taken the angels’ hands and returned to the Lord.
